This scene has changed dramatically in the 50 years since I started on CP in London. The building in question used to be a water softener outfit, if I recall. This chunk of ROW was double tracked from Adelaide Street (behind this train) and Richmond Street (ahead of him). The water softener outfit had a rail spur and on the opposite side was a spur into a fruit & veggie outfit. I believe I was on the crew that put the last car in it. We had to push over small trees & plow thru weeds to spot it. There was a watchman’s tower here, he operated the gates & there was a bunch of tracks & a big freight/express shed behind where the photographer is standing. One time I worked the yard and we switched the shed, the shed foreman gave us 75 lb bags of potatoes each (they had fallen on the ground when the car was being unloaded) and I dutifully took mine home after shift, on my bicycle, I had no car back then.Over the coming weeks my new wife made a lot of dinners with them.

Steve, a striking picture. The interesting building in the background is the home of the the long time London law firm which used to be Siskind, Cromarty. Wonder how many lawyers are watching the railway activities ? John
