Thanks @IsaacBryson. I’m guessing the boxcar had to be delivered without waiting to build the rest of a train. Wonder what was in it that was so important? Great shot again @BillPurdy
Btw..I remember HH’s mandate was to just get trains out and not wait to build them. But this was after his tenure.

Hey Brad. The lone BNSF is due to no availbale power in Windsor. Lone boxcar is answered below (set off by an earlier 140 and needed to come east). WB green is a default green, so once the train clears the block, it reverts back to a green signal.

This was an odd one but very interesting photo! Glad you caught and photog’d it @BillPurdy. I too received a couple notices in my email and wondered about when it would pass through Toronto. I was hoping for more discussion on this odd train. Questions: 1) why a lone BNSF? 2) why just one boxcar to take all the way to Toronto? 3) why a Westbound green signal in the distance?

The boxcar was set out in the states by a 140 a couple days ago. 244 lifted it and brought it all the way to Toronto. 244 also lifted 9 tankers from Hornby.

I am not sure about CP rules, but they may have given the one boxcar to the crew so they could at least run at 50mph. On CN 1 an engine running light is restricted to 30mph, this may be true for CP as well?
BTW 7444 just went by me on the North Toronto Sub at Davenport Diamond with a CP unit leading. No cars.

I do wonder what that was all about. EHH wouldn’t have been happy, thats for sure. But then, he has been safely put away, and weird things once again happen along the GALT sub.
