Comments on: Well, having just posted a “VIA” shot, one could say it was to commemorate VIAs 40 Years now that we are 2018, and so I figured, ‘what the heck’….here’s another from VIAs 1st full year ……..even though there is no indication this is anything other than a CN passenger train. CN 4017, a GP40 was often seen in passenger service along with sister 4016. (the series 4002-4017 were renumbered to 9302-9317 in 1981). This eastbound has just crossed the Grand River Bridge and is seen over the former Lake Erie & Northern track, at the time actively operated by CP.

4016, 17 were geared for passenger speeds and were often seen around Spadina for the west passenger pool.

Might add there was a lot of indication of former 'prosperity' along the line, as you can see on the right. Behind me was the station, still standing, and I think an electrical contractor had leased it.

Thanks for posting! I remember this line as a kid, although I never saw a train on it, just stored freight cars most likely awaiting scrapping.

I had closely examine the map to find where this is...I might try to time machine this shot, but it is grown in terribly!
