Comments on: Well, I think on this cold ‘wintery’ day in Ontario it’s time to post some sunny summer shots, and this is my first post of this train shot back in June. I was on (forced) vacation this week and what a week, with only knowledge that this pair should run through overnight with possibility of a leader change in Toronto, all I knew is it traced west of Toronto when I woke up at 0500 and quickly left the house to intercept. Not until I was in Hamilton going over the skyway did I get confirmation by radio CMQ 9020 was actually leading. My first photo was in Welland at 0647. Thankfully they had work at Welland (rare for this train!) which gave ample opportunity for a photo on the east side of the Welland Canal. Surprisingly, I was the only one shooting the tunnel exit as everyone seemed to be gathered on the road overpasses way in the distance. As an infrastructure fan this was my #1 shot.

To be fair I'm unaware of any DM&E or ICE units that were repainted CP. I think they were all eliminated. I'll ask a friend though.

Some of those were ex CP too... some trains I shot you could hardly tell if it was DME or ICE as they were just CP paint with sublettering.

LOL I didn't realize that.

I don't like getting up early, but this was one of those few times it was worth it.

Part of me said 'you have to try for this' but the other part of me said 'it'll happen again' - nope. No regrets at all.

Uh oh, looks like you typed the date in again for the unit number. :-)
Glad I'm not the only one that gets up at 5am to go train hunting. LOL The sun and air is just to good at that time of day to miss it.

Down at the "Stinky" tunnel. Apparently there is a pocket of gypsum, and when it gets damp it smells like rotten eggs down there. I remember going thru on a hi-rail once, and the Foreman said "Hold your breath".
