As plain and unassuming as the black paint on the former CP RS-18u, TRY 1859 heads up the Canal Sub one last time before the line would be mothballed to its current state. As far as I am aware, this was the last train to pass over this segment between Merritton and Thorold. The track between Welland to Thorold is still in service as tank cars are still being stored behind Poly.

Ipoly had rail service, think the line was ripped out in 95 or 96.

The name of the company is iPoly BTW. Did they ever use rail service?

Satellite images from May 2024 show no cars anywhere north of the 406.

BTW this is a great shot, Classic. I’d like to see rail service come back here some day. Never say never until it’s gone.

There were two more trains after the “last train” on the NS&T (Grantham) Spur in St. Catharines after the last GIO locomotive hauled movement..

I expect a rail train to lift the Thorold sub since there’s a lot of CWR in the upgraded portions should it come to that.

Are there cars currently behind poly? I have seen tanks stored between the 406 at Welland and the Welland River bridge just north of there on multiple occasions.
