Comments on: What is it that Monty Python used to say…”And now for something completely different”. Well, you can say that again–a GO train on the Beach sub! This trip was sponsored by the Electric Railroader’s Association on July 6, 1974 during the ERA’s annual convention. The day started out with a TTC subway train charter then, after lunch, ran an excursion using new GO GP40-2LW 9810 and ACPU 9861 (ex ONT FP7 1512) and three single level coaches. The train ran northwest to Georgetown, down to Hamilton, over to Stoney Creek and across the Beach sub, before returning to Toronto over the Oakville sub. Here the train is shown at the Burlington Canal lift bridge at mile 4.8. (Caption information from the July-August 1974 UCRS Newsletter.)

Great capture. Looking at the rust on the rails it appears there wasn’t many moves across the lift bridge prior to this move.
