Comments on: When CN took over Northern Alberta Railways on 1981-01-01, not much changed visually at first, with locomotives renumbered into the CN plan but other markings left intact. On Tuesday 1981-09-15 at 1710 MDT, CN 4610 (ex NAR 209) ‘Slave Lake’ led a wayfreight from Grande Prairie to Dawson Creek westward from Hythe over a little bridge crossing a nameless (as far as I can determine) squiggly little creek at mileage 91.9, halfway between Range Roads 113 and 114.

One appreciated characteristic along the NAR lines was the careful provision and maintenance of mileage plaques on bridges, priceless details for photo identification many years later.

Thanks for your positive observations. NAR lines were a favourite of mine (after home road E&N) for their wide open spaces and very friendly people.

I truly agree, its quite a gift to have such quality moments in time for us to see. I keep hinting on a book which can encapsulate all these moments!!

Ken, your photos are so consistent in their high quality and to us, mostly "rare" subjects.
I wish I could turn back the clock. I would have been out west more.!!
This is another beauty.
