#1 goes out of the USRC and west on the Weston Sub to Parkdale, north on the Newmarket Sub clearing Snider North, then shoves back towards MacMillan Yard. This photo was taken right after the reverse move. It will head east on the York Sub to Doncaster and then north on the Bala Sub. #2 simply proceeds south on the Bala Sub into the USRC.

So does #1/#2 not use the Bala Sub between Union and the York Sub anymore? Another recent photo mentioned the movement running up the Newmarket to the York, over the the Bala.
