Comments on: While CN was running a parade of backlit westbounds (note the clear signal indication on the close track), CP sent an eastbound through Keppel during the best light of the day. This is a loaded crude oil train out of the USD terminal at Hardisty/Rosyth that looks to have had some local traffic added to the head end.

Hahaha, well just a few weeks ago I did an almost two hour walk into Crozier Canyon to shoot orange GEs… so don’t rule it out !

Yeah that’s pretty much how I envisioned it when I was driving around there in August. Was surprised (and grateful) to see a December shot here.

And hey, 3 km one-way to the highway from this spot? You’d be crazy not to snowshoe in! Haha.

Thanks. The roads are basically non existent around Keppel after the first good snow storm. They are unmaintained so it snows, then the wind packs in all the low spots (i.e. the roads) and before you know it you are not getting in till late spring. The worst part is that once things thaw out, the water all drains onto the roadway!

One of these days I might be crazy enough to snow shoe in here though.
