Comments on: While waiting early one evening for a CN westbound, which was approaching just around the corner; I happened to see this oddity sneaking by, heading east. So what have we here? A guess would be a breakdown of the afternoon Niagara Falls Budds; resulting in the consist being towed back, complete with caboose. Bill McArthur and Dave Stowe (right) watch the “extra” accelerate thru the junction with CN 1264, Budds 6302, 6005 6120 and Van 79534. Jalopies in the foreground belong to Bill (blue wagon) Steven Lee (maroon valiant) and my ’76 Cougar in the middle. The tan car, a Chevy Nova, it looks like, was often present watching trains on weekends but I never did put a name to the owner. As this view indicates, this was a pleasant tranquil location back in the day for trainwatching. Why did so many hang out here? Well, it was the days before technology as we now know it, and to find out the ‘train-world happenings’ one stopped by to get the latest, so the junction was the place to be.

Just goes to show you never know what will turn up on a railfanning outing. Sure makes the day worthwhile. But as Arnold said, “times are changing”. Still you never know and it’s great to be out there (anywhere).
