Comments on: While wandering thru Brandon many years ago looking for something ‘different’, I did rather poorly, save for this nice GMD-1 still in the old green/yellow paint. They were rather difficult to find in something other than white lettering on black even back then. Turns out this particular unit was the only “old paint” unit I ever got to photograph. Surprisingly enough, according to the 2016 CTG, this unit; now as CN 1433, is still out there.

Mr. Booth. 10 years after you snapped CN 1153 in Brandon, I managed to capture her on August 20, 2002 in ONR's yard in North Bay, ON in a dead line behind their car shop.

MR. Mooney! Thanks for the photograph of CNR 1026 in the Brandon yards. Having the pleasure of serving in the Cdn. Army @ near by CFB Shilo I managed to see similar painted units at the base during my 14 years there. In 1992 I went back to Brandon and managed to catch GMD-1 1153 in almost the exact same spot. As a side note all tracks in CFB Shilo belonged to the Military but were maintained by CN.

Thanks for the comment. I came on the scene a little late for the old green and gold, but then most of us that remember this paint scheme are pretty much geezers now, aren't we? :o)

A great find and a great capture Mr. Mooney! Some of the Newfoundland narrow gauge G-8's (Nos. 800 & 803) made it as least as far as late August 1978 (as photographed by Rich Taylor) and perhaps even made it into part of 1979 with the Green & Gold! - Ken

Diesels, passenger equipment, whatever, they all looked so good in the green and gold. The CNR crest on the cab was tops also. Thanks for posting this one. :-)
