Comments on: Windsor and Hantsport Railway FPB-4 6861 is a rather odd sight to behold at the Wainwright Rail Park in Wainwright Alberta. The unit was donated to the rail park by Canadian Pacific in 2000. Supposedly CP traded/acquired several of these units from WHRC to keep the C424 fleet alive in the later years. As for how a CP donated unit winds up in a CN town like Wainwright? I’ve got nothing on that one.

Anyone know the current status of this unit?

Apparently WHRC purchased a bunch of units, but most weren't delivered and resold to CP as parts units, in trade for CP RS23's. The CN 6765 at CRM/Exporail is, ironically, an ex-WHRC unit that CP acquired and donated to the museum.

Regardless of how it got there, the equipment in Wainwright may not be long for this world, the rail park there is going through a long, slow process of shutting down and disposing of all their equipment. Nothing there is roadworthy anymore (can't move on its own wheels), which complicates moving the heavier things like this B-unit.

Did the ex-VIA units that WHRC bought ever make it to Nova Scotia? Or did they just languish in the dead line at one of VIA's maintenance centres?
