The amount of wasted energy must be staggering. Railways have made incredible use of technology to increase their efficiency. Why not here ? I always thought it was a waste of propane every time I walked by the turnouts. I was told by the track forces that they leave them on even on sunny days with no snow. Makes no sense to me?
