Docta, I’ve figured out where there might be photos of trains on that spur line, and – hopefully – at the saw mill: in the possession of the folks with Interlake. That was their operation; surely, after spending money to put in that spur line – and use it – they would have taken photos to show that the money was well spent. Now, where would I begin to look for someone connected with Interlake?

Docta, I’m old enough to remember that spur line running from the Interlake (before Kimberly-Clark) to the little saw mill. Ideally, I’d love to find a shot of a train at that saw mill. Last time I checked Google’s Street View, you could still that line running up Front Street.

Docta, I recall that there was a shot similar to this one, of a train turning onto Townline, and another one of a train near St. Peter Street and Townline. I’m still hoping to – some day – see an old photo of a train on that spur on Front Street, going to or coming from the saw mill that used to be just before St. Davids Road.

Docta, I recall seeing some photos of trains on Townline on the Historic Thorold page on Facebook. If I recall correctly, Marty Irving – the administrator – posted one or two of them. Almost a year after their posting, they might be well buried below more recent photos, or gone altogether.

The one that got away… I tried to shoot on Townline Rd three times and never did manage to shoot it. Just missed it once.. (wasn’t too knowledgeable of operations at the time)
