This was a very cool day, which seems appropriate for a Friday the 13th. You can see in the middle of the train a couple of the early style hoppers. Often wondered if there was a customer that requested them as they were frequently a part of the consist.

Thanks Jamie. :-)
The Beetle is my all time favourite car. I've owned 5 of them over the years. Just could never stop the cancer, which everyone of them suffered from. In my last VW, who ever road shotgun and if there was puddle on the road, you'd better hold your feet up off the floor. They're going to get wet.

Cool story about the VW Larry.

Agreed with the others, this is awesome. I remember in my youth having a magazine (cannot recall which) that did a feature on GMD-1s on the prairie branches - and a fascination with elevators, grain movements and of course GMD-1s was immediately born. What a sight this would've been.

LOL, my chase car at that time was a VW beetle, with no heat. On cold days like this it, it added some zest to the exhilaration. Even in the car I had to keep my camera under my winter coat (on days of -20° or lower) or it would be frozen by the time I came back home. Yet that VW would start right up at -35°. Getting there was more important than keeping warm. :-)
Thanks Arnold.

When you think of all the trains we see out there these days, this to me is one amazing sight. How times change. Well done on a nice frosty morning. It must have been exhilarating.
