Comments on: With thanks to the enterprising person(s) that made this possible – this very surprising and railfan-friendly lettering now adorns former SP 9392, former GEXR 9392 which was re-numbered GEXR 3054 a year or two? after this unit arrived on the property in 2012. It arrived with full SP Speed Lettering on the sides for quite a while before it was painted out, but it didn’t have the SP on the nose.. while on GEXR until today. Oh boy is this ever going to bring everyone out for the last 5 days of GEXR on the Guelph Sub.

Glad you like it.

The sad thing is in 2010 Metrolinx was saying they'd incorporate it into the platform... would have been basically a museum in middle of the platform, but management changes have resulted in "get it out" instead.

Legally it's supposed to be gone by end of year.. the job to move 6167 is up for bidding/RFP, it's supposed to be moving to John Galt Park beside Woolwich St - close to where the 'canoe sculpture' is. Just north of the CNR overpass.

The contracts for construction and heavy rigging have been awarded. I expect it will move fairly quickly, barring construction delays... let's hope it's done on time

Stephen, most interesting picture, nice composition, 6167 on the left and part of Guelph passenger station on the left. At first, it looked like someone had leased a SP unit. That red nose with white lettering is so recognizable. Thanks for posting. This picture shows very clearly why 6167 has to be moved to make space for GO second platform. Any news on if , and when 6167 is being moved ? John

I have never been a fan of graffiti on any rail equipment and this certainly does not qualify as such. Well done to whomever restored the SP on the nose. The SD40/45T-2's are my favorite freight locomotive and I have been lucky enough to see and photograph them moving tonnage over Cajon, Tehachapi, Donner, Beaumont and more. I loved photographing 3054 on CN rails over my time on the railroad. Here is to hoping 3045 stays in Canada!

I assume Steve's talking about the "Southern Pacific" lettering on the side, which I think happened when the unit was renumbered to 3054.

By looking at past photos the SP was never painted over. In 1990 the SP existed on the nose and gradually faded through SP & CEFX ownership to almost nothing by 2007

Nice! I will try and snag a few shots before the takeover date. I definitely got my share of shots of this unit when it first came to GEXR back in 2012.

I wonder if whoever applied the decal did this on purpose for the last week...any idea on where this unit's going after Nov. 16?
