Comments on: With the light shimmering on the power lines, the “Empress of Agincourt” runs light and fast on the Belleville Subdivision. It was nice to see Rob Smith’s recent shot of 8921 at the Elgin County Museum. It reminded me of this photograph I snagged about forty years ago, circa 1975. The location was the Victoria Park bridge in Scarborough. I’ve previously posted some other images from this spot. Shown here, the open land on the right later filled with townhomes. On the left were the fields behind City Pontiac Buick. This was my stomping grounds when I was growing up – acres and acres of fields, swamps, tree-forts and bulrushes. When I returned a dozen or so years ago, it held a yellow grocery store and a strip plaza. I’m thrilled that the Empress found a good home! Actually, Peter, I think this photo is art. There is a fine line between a photo and artwork, and this, in my humble opinion is art.
