Comments on: With the recent removal of most of the old telegraph poles on the CN Bala mainline from Toronto to Washago, the S curve looking north through Gormley provides a refreshing reminder of the railway’s past. With dynamic brakes whining, a venerable duo of EMD SD70/75 series diesels roll Q108 south towards Doncaster.

The Walkway is definitely a nice quiet spot to see trains along a busy mainline. The Northlander would indeed make a good frame here. Hopefully that day will come soon!

Very nice picture ! The pedestrian crossing in the little hamlet of Gormley is one of my favourite train watching and photographing sites. Don’t have to worry about trespassing on railway property, can cross the tracks lawfully and safely, can park on either side of the right of way, and what with GO trains, VIA’s Canadian and a healthy number of freight trains, lots to see. And who knows, one day ONR Northland may reappear. Won’t be long before I can setup my folding chair with a good book and watch the action. Thank you for posting, John

I'm looking forward to the green reappearing! The only problem is the entire Bala will be nearly unshootable again as CN continues to ignore the ever-present lineside weeds and shrubs

The warm temperatures sure are a sign that grey season is coming to an end soon. Can't wait to get some green on those branches
