Comments on: Work may have brought me down to Hamilton’s Industrial Core, but the sun brought me out exploring. With a window of opportunity, I finally got a decent chance to explore the industrial core and check for trains down in “the hole.” I have never ventured in this territory and I had no guide. I have been in the area a handful of times for work but never had a chance to explore and shoot trains. It is very convoluted (much like the abandoned factories I did work in!). I have a few more shots to post in time. I’ll start with a familiar one. The CN local (don’t know the symbol) with 4704 and 7038 is seen finished its duties down in the hole and returning to Stuart St. Yard, crossing Simcoe St. E. I like the tiny searchlight signal. The crew may have revved up the engines for my shot as they opened them up as soon as I popped out for my shot. I also realized that other RP.ca contributors shot this location but from the Ferguson Ave. bridge.

Interesting, I saw the 4704 as the 5504 with the black paint and large noodle scheme back in the 80's when living in Redwater. Still looking good. :-)

Best way to learn the area is to do just that - explore! No shortage of fun up there. I got a very similar shot my first ever time shooting down the hole too - 4003 with a string of tanks. :)
