Comments on: Yes, it WAS a station. It is listed in a book of Ontario stations as a “flag stop” but it certainly doesn’t look like it had seen much action by the time I got around to photographing it. And it hadn’t. It has been a long time since passenger trains ran on the line and even in 1977 a freight move was something of a wonder for the locals. The previous station was removed and transferred to the nearby Lake Island Conservation area, and this replacement was deemed adequate.
The line eventually became part of the Canadian Pacific.
The old CVR (Credit Valley Railway) Elora Sub was torn up in 1987 and it is now the Elora-Cataract trailway.
No idea where this ‘fancy’ structure ended up. Probably now residing in some local farm as a mini storage building. Hope so.

You and me both, Ian. What books out there are not complete and it seems you have to acquire a number of them and then make your own lists. Not easy.
Worse, so many of these structures have come down, or, like you say, moved; but no one really has compiled a list of when most have been moved, destroyed by the railroad involved or become victims of arson, as have at least 5 in Niagara.

I wish there was a registry compiling the fate of all of the stations and flag stops structures across Canada. So many of these are still standing, moved away from the track and converted to various uses yet most people have no idea these structures used to be stations.
