Comments on: Yes; this early April day back in 1974 was as gloomy this scene appears. But I rather like the mood of it.
The image is of the Grimsby CN station, looking west. The structure burned own on the last day of 1994, after several years serving commercial purposes. Electrical fire. The building on the extreme left is the GWR (Great Western) station, built 1855; and has been thru several changes over the many years of its existence. Currently, it stands vacant. Renovated inside and out, it was to become an eatery/pool hall but financial difficulties have put the project on hold this last 3 years.

Oh but of course, John. I just sent a couple of interior shots to Raymond at Old Time Trains. I would think he will have them up on his site soon. It would be a thrill to meet there for lunch.

Keep us up to date on the original GWR passenger station - guess the antique business folded during covid. If the building does reopen with a licensed eating area, will definitely travel on the Maple Leaf for a beer-lunch stop. Hope you will join me.

Thanks, John. You just never miss a good time, do you? Good to hear.
I remember when the station burned. It still seems like 'yesterday' even though it was close to 30 years ago.

Whistled by here yesterday on the GO weekend Niagara Falls morning train and back again in early afternoon; just wish this beautiful station was still standing. The good news is that the former GWR station structure behind it looked resplendent in the sunshine in its renovated state. Accompanying me back to Toronto were a dozen of NRHS NFT Chapter members, wives on an “escape the winter blues” outing to Toronto for the afternoon and back thanks to GO and $10 special round trip electronic (only) ticket. If only that fire hadn’t taken place, thanks for posting, John

Nice looking station with an active lever controlled Train Order Signal, a great capture of history. The radio tower and bungalow seen to the west of the station is still there today.
