This country scene has changed since the early years when the Michigan Central built it’s east to west mainline through Southwestern Ontario. When they came across the old mainline (later) known as C&O Subdivision # 2 that ran north to south, a diamond was formed. So too was a connecting track to exchange traffic. And this location then became known to both railways as Fargo (or Fargo Crossing). Here a rather dilapidated looking CN 4771 heads back north to Chatham after exchanging grain cars at the Thompson’s facility in Blenheim. It passes the CTC signals that have been turned away, no longer in need of service. The former MC (and later CASO) road bed was bought by the local hydro company Entegrus. They erected the rather large hydro pole seen in behind 4771. And that pole marks where t he once mighty MC (later CASO) ran it’s mainline. The former C&O Sub. # 2 has also fallen from it’s glory days, but barely remains in service thanks in part to CN taking over the “Blenheim Operation” when the CSX wanted to abandon their line.
