Sitting at the former site of Atlas steel in Welland Ontario sit a surprising group of hidden gems. Upon crossing the tracks I spotted a former CP van and slowed down for a closer look. After returning back to the apartment to grab my cameras we ventured back to the site where we were greeted by two employees from the industry who showed us to the units. Sadly the lead unit looks to be in declining shape, although the second and the van were in better condition the rusted wheels were a a give-away of their long slumber on the industrial side track.

    These are the former James River Marathon locomotives. Trillium picked them up in 2004.

    Can’t go in here anymore, it’s all fenced off and moved further back on the steel companies’ property.
