Back when the "Toronto Rocket" subway trains were brand-new and entering service, the photographer was getting off his usual train at Union when one of the few TR's in service pulled in going the opposite direction. Presented with the opportunity, he decided to catch his first ride on set 5426 northbound.

Due to constant door problems that delayed us as well as create a service gap in front, it quickly became crammed riding up the Univeristy line. Trains were literally backed up from behind, and everyone was getting on our train.

My original intent was to have a quick ride to see what the fuss was about, and simply get off at St. Andrew for a shot, but St. Andrew is somewhat boring. It was decided Queen's Park or St. Patrick would be nice, but since the crowds were packing on and made it somewhat impossible to move (much less get out) until St. George, I decided to go a little further and get my shot at the more unique Dupont Station.

(All this for one shot put me behind time for my GO train and caused a whole bunch of ramifications, one of which was enduring a slow GO bus ride home up the Don Valley Parkway, equivalent to watching paint try while having your teeth pulled by a monkey).
