Ah.....Summer North of Superior.....when track occupancies ( blocks ) limit daylight train operations....where any operating train is a celebration...

June 25 1985, Neys Provincial Park, I am standing on a sand bar at the mouth of the Little Pic River: three MLW built M636 (ALCO licenced) 4700 series lead westbound a CP Rail (a division of Canadian Pacific Limited) freight across the Little Pic River viaduct.

 Kodachrome by S. Danko.

What's interesting: 1) prime mover bay doors are open on the lead unit (4738 ?) and does appear to be producing power

and (2) tank trains are not new (despite what you read in today's news) !

and (3) a campground near by, so you can try to sleep while clearly hearing the daylight less operations !

 More: Little Pic River

    from the highway lookout

   track level

    from the highway

 More Northern Ontario:

   end of train device

    last sight 1990

  1. If that were today, one can only imagine the horde of foamers that’d be in pursuit of this train! The sms network would crash from the volume of text messages generated. Beautiful shot.

  2. We use BBM now, Mike :)
