After all these years of seeing the Algoma Central in this part of the province, absorbing the sight of the "foreign" Wisconsin Central power was difficult. But still, a welcome change. Here we see daily southbound #10, mixed freight, climbing the stiff grade out of town by the Hawk Jct. approach marker; WC 6506, 3012, 6655, 6604, 2252 and 2052. The ACR was taken over by WC on January 31, 1995, The WC, in turn, was bought out by CN in October 2001. So, the period of solid WC power was shortlived, and now long past.
