CN GP-9 4514 is returning from a trip up the Lakefield spur to retrieve a gondola car from Lakefield Research. It will soon be on the street running on Bethune Street. There are a couple of unusual things in this shot. While GP-9's were common, geeps with snow shields were not common in Peterborough. The relatively new transfer caboose showed up for a week and was not seen again. Photo from my collection, taken by my brother out the car window.

  1. Wow – CN in Peterborough – thanks for sharing – looking forward to any more you may have!

  2. Eric, i’m headed for Peterborough on Weds the 23. Do you know if the train is in town that day? And if so, the eta? Also, the switcher in town, when do they normally switch? Thanks.

  3. I don’t think the Havelock train runs on Wednesdays. The switcher is kept on Harper Road. I haven’t lived there since the 80′s so I can’t help much on schedules.

  4. CN GP9′s 4510 and 4512 had the striped scheme, interesting how 4514 had the noodle and the snow shield.
