Unexpected.

That is what I would describe the new ( in 1976 ) VIA RAIL colours.

And Turbo, looked great in yellow with blue stripe.

That VIA shade of blue made a great accent ( secondary ) colour to the yellow on the Turbo

on the grade

Turbo, the first new VIA scheme applied to a whole VIA train, did not prepare anyone for the unexpected reversal of the Turbo's colours.

So, at one point in time I wondered: “ did a Swedish Prince take control at VIA? “

And while that shade of VIA blue is now mostly history, unfortunately the classic equipment that VIA blue was applied to is…..well.....

Here is my choice for :

the best use of blue

With a yellow accent at that !

ah, maybe it was just the equipment...less I digress....

So what you see here is colour and a good contrast of that too...

And my 1985 surprise was to see 6787 in Thunder Bay ! Made at least as far West as Winnipeg !

( by 1983 most of the ex CP Rail F's purchased by VIA were retired, hence during the summer season VIA was likely short power for the lengthly summer transcontinental consists).

Here, in 1985, VIA 6787 leads VIA #2 ( the VIA version of Canadian ) into the Thunder Bay depot. Note the green marker lamps on CP RAIL 6037 leading 5752 and 5900
