CN oil electric 15836 with trailer car C-1 is seen arriving at Caledon East on June 18, 1960. This is the same Barrie-Gerogetown-Hamilton train in Clayton Morgan's photo I posted earlier ,taken at Inglewood when it consisted of an SW1200, baggage car and coach. Special thanks to Ian for allowing me to share this historic gem.
This service was discontinued a few months later and 15836 was retired in 1960 as well.

  1. Wonderful scene, thanks for sharing ! As a pre-teen fan, I would look forward to train 663 arriving at Burlington in the very late afternoon, rocking and rolling along the Milton Sub until it made the station stop.
But if this is Caledon East, it would be the Beeton Subdivision.

  2. Great shot. Definately shows a time that has changed drastically through the years, not just fr the sake of the railroad and the perfect country scene, but geographiically as well (from reading other rp.ca users comments). Just….wonderful :)

  3. An amazing shot, and in colour to boot. Thank you for sharing.

  4. That area has changed quite a bit. there is a small park where the freight shed and ramp were. the station is long gone, trees everywhere and Airport Road is much busier.

  5. Back to a much better time. Leave the auto in the garage. Open the windows and smell the World out there. And he has a trailer following for overflow. Beautiful

  6. This is stunning, to say the least. Perfect shot.

  7. The little girl would be about the same age as my wife; not quite 60 now. Another wonderful scene from rural Ontario when Peel County north of Brampton was out in the country.

  8. Very interesting, and a rare photo! Thanks for sharing this piece of history!
