CN Local heading back to Edmonton, long hood forward, passing the cemetery at Pioneer Road, just east of Spruce Grove AB. The train had run up to the switch at Spruce Grove (MP 19.9) on the south track and then backed up towards Edmonton on the north track CN 2019 Dash 8-40C was originally CNW 8523 and was painted into CN colours not long after this photo was taken.

  1. Seeing what we get to shoot these days, this was a rare case in which “ugly was welcome”. Now totally ignore the above comment when I say to you, ‘Welcome to the Group’. :o )

  2. Thanks. We were just heading home and heard the activity on the scanner. We had just enough time to park and set up for the shot. Got it on video as well.
