The slide is dated April 1981, although I wondering if the image was taken late March. Difficult to see in the image but the lead locomotive 714 is displaying "green flags & green class lights" indicating a following section of the same time table scheduled train, most likely this would be "First 36".  Note the large fields in view, this was a large specialty hay ranch that produced a top quality feed hay that was exported to numerous ranches and tracks for racing horses.
