There was a period of time in the late 1990s when CN did have a bit of colour in their consists. Here is westbound #332 out of Fort Erie with CN 5335, EDMX 6419 and CR 6482 as seen from a pedestrian walkway over the tracks that connects severed Emerald St. N. In the distance is the Wentworth St grade crossing. I used this location sparingly. Not exactly a neighbourhood I felt overly safe in.

  1. I’m with Stephen on that one. I’d love to see 10 years prior in this view as well as some of the locals being switched along the Grimsby sub in Hamilton in the 90s…if there were any?

  2. I don’t mind the location at all, the hospital keeps the area fairly sane. What’s crazy is GO/Metrolinx is going to pay to put the third track back in in the near future..

1997 wasn’t all that long ago… I’d love to see a photo from here 10+ years prior with the Hagersville sub leads (Hamilton Terminal trackage) still in place.. looks like they ripped it up not long earlier.

I didn’t start watching trains in this area until summer 1997, and CN used slug-sets to switch the yard and for yard jobs.

  3. Nice one! I was fond of shooting here years ago, but in daylight of course :)

  4. Thanks Brandon. When you look at how wide that RoW is, you can image just how busy it used to be at one time, all the sidings and industry with locals serving them daily. The hustle and bustle is gone.

  5. Fantastic! Thanks for posting this.
