The crosstown Bloor-Danforth streetcar line was the second-busiest route on the system, hopping with streetcars both operating in multiples and singles, which put it next by ever-growning Toronto for replacement by a subway line. Almost six years before the Bloor-Danforth subway would open to replace it, TTC PCC 4432 is seen heading eastbound on Bloor Street West at Indian Road (operating on a short turn run to Lansdowne Loop), climbing the hill from the Keele St. / Parkside Drive intersection below. The gleaming glossy paint suggests 4432 had recently been either repainted, or given a good spit 'n polish job by carhouse forces. Judging by the shadows this would have been a late morning/early afternoon photo, and going by the mount process date (July 1960, but USA-developed) it would have likely been taken sometime in June or July of 1960. Bloor Street still bears sections of road done with red interlocking pavers, although they're looking rather spotty in some places.

It's also interesting to note some of the old 1960-era advertisements visible: a BA Oil (British American) gas station, ads for Stokely's Honey Pod Sugar Peas, Puddicombe Used Cars (a local car dealership in the area), Belvedere cigarettes ("TASTE"), Fetch dog food, and the Royal Bank of Canada (blue side ad on streetcar).

This Ektachrome slide acquisition taken by an unknown photographer had badly cyan colour shifted and was showing signs of surface deterioration (etching or fungus growth on the surface), likely from years of poor storage. I gave it a bit of TLC in Photoshop, correcting the colour as best as I could and digitally cleaning all the surface spots that had developed by hand. Some careful cleanup is a small price to pay for an otherwise nice photo.
