Running "extra north" the symbol freight "VO" (Vancouver Omineca)" we paused at Alexandria for a quick photo of the 729. The unit had been recently overhauled and freshly painted. These wide cab MLW's were not popular with the running crews account roll and sway as well as poor wheel slip control.

  1. Were the trucks salvaged to put under C40-8M’s, like CN did with the C630M?

    Makes me wonder what MLW thought of these locomotives on the test track. I can imagine the roll and sway would cause someone to lose their lunch instead of their marbles.
