Remote Control Car at Prince George, BC Rail yard. Early 1970's BC Rail started to implement mid-train "robots" or remote control units. The railway purchased several RCC cars from CPR and the BN / GN. The RCC cars were made from CLC or EMD B units and contained the electronics and air brake equipment for Remote Control operations. The RCC's were basically the slave receiver and were MU'd to the locomotives in the remote consist and sent the signals to the remote units in the consist. Some of the RCC cars were equipped with a oil stove heater, cot bunk and electric hotplate for use by any technician that may ride the RCC cars during the experimental stage of remote control operations. RCC 3 pictured is ex CPR from a CLC "B" unit
