On my way to work, I found CN tied down on the Waterloo Spur...Must have ran out of time from its run to Elmira overnight. Pictured just north of Northfield Drive, CN 4781 and CN 4777 idle away all day until approval to head south to Kitchener (I'm assuming because of the LRT ramping up its testing) during the night. This is very close to the north termination of the LRT line at Conestoga Mall, and also where CN begins to share trackage with LRT. Does anyone know the train symbol?

  1. Nice one Kevin! The LRT must be in its serious stages of testing now. Train symbol was L566 I believe.
I also noticed the fresh ashpult on the right of the train! It appears WCR resonantly paved a new platform there for their future stop at Northfeild!

  2. And the camera’s watching you too Kevin :) hahah

Glad to see a platform to platform stop being made at Northfield for a LRT connection. This is very smart and I hope it works out.

It appears L566 made it south overnight from Friday to Saturday morning. Friday, the LRT was operating full speed trains, in the few minutes I was there shooting this, one went by.

  3. Thanks guys. I had no idea that’s what the asphalt paved area was for. And I didn’t even question it!

  4. And you got it in sun too! Nice timing and shot Kevin.
