Caption: This image somehow has "old time" written all over it. And since it has been a long time since I shot this photo, I'm hoping someone on this list can explain its' significance. The namesign appears to be part of the set-up, and not a sign lifted from a post along the RoW. If there was a junction here it might have been the line into Madoc and a split over to Bonarlaw. The railroads many years ago had a considerable number of these quaint little shanties along the way. Many were tool buildings, storage sheds, but this one appears to have been a register office at one time. Anyone know?

Hmm, by the 1981 CN ETTs show “Madoc Junction” as Mile 12.2 on CN Campbellford Sub, with a Madoc Spur (ex-Madoc Sub, that used to run all the way to Eldorado and the CN Marmora/Maynooth Sub) branching off from the junction to Madoc proper. Apparently that remaining spur was abandoned in 1984.

That is a very nice relaxing scene! I thank you for posting it. Makes me think of the old days (early 1950′s) when as a kid I walked some back roads west of Barrie Ont.
