Back in the summer of 2011, a CP westbound (what appears to be a local) switches Ayr with two SD40-2s of different paint schemes - 5648 and 5746. The past of 5648 can be revealed through the paint...for a while CP was StL&H. I'm not sure the deal with that but many of CP's engines were lettered StL&H for a period of time back in the early 2000s.

  1. Seems to me the 5648 had a misadventure, and the shell of an STLH painted SD was married to the body of the CP.

  2. I think the ST&L was a tax write off like the Kawartha Lakes Railway wasn’t it? Probably others.
