  2. CP parked and stored most of its 244-power, including all the FA & FB units, at St. Luc in 1975 due to a traffic downturn. Most of the RS3 and RS10 units that were parked were returned to service, but the FA/FB’s never were. They were stored for a few years and officially retired in September 1977. The B-units in the best shape were sent to Angus and were gutted (had their engines and other components removed), renumbered to AN-xx numbers (4464 became AN-29) and returned for storage at St. Luc, held for possible conversion to more robot cars (only one was ever done, the rest of the AN’s were eventually scrapped, as the robot equipment got small enough to fit in the SD40-2′s nose). The A’s were all scrapped except 4085 that was converted into an air repeater car.

    Units 4089 & 4469 were held for CP’s historic collection, and eventually found their way to the museum in Cranbrook where they sit on display today.
