Caption: With about 80 cars on the drawbar, CSXT D725 is finally underway southbound to Chatham rolling between the Baseball fields of Corunna and the boys are throttling it up to get to... track speed.. The CSX power trailing the CP SD40-2F will be used on a Chatham-Blenheim-Sarnia D724 in the afternoon, shortly after arrival of this train in Chatham around 1300. It was a slow journey from Sarnia to Chatham, about 7-8 hours after the crew got on duty in Sarnia and usually meant there was a new crew needed for the northbound leg. BTW If you're counting, that's three three man crews already, plus two yard jobs on the day shift and the night shift this means about 17 crew members were called daily to run the division. Today, the total is two to four men for the 1 or 2 daily jobs. That's it. The Canadian division is pretty much gone compared to what we see here. How the mighty have fallen.
Here's an audio link recorded this day. Detector at Mile 51 (Note 86 cars, subtract the engines for the total car count.. and what about that blistering speed.. )
