...Seventies C P Rail ...

….every lashup ... an adventure in motive power variety.....

...mixing up first and second generation power.....

… all ALCO designed: the 12 cylinder 244 prime mover engine and the16 cylinder 251 prime mover.....

….a MLW built ' Power Demonstration ' on the 916: a trio M-630's ably assisted by a pair first generation MLW RS-10's

On the Belleville Subdivision in the Northumberland ( Oak Ridges) Hills....(perhaps the east end Port Hope siding)

    October 14, 1979 Kodachrome by S.Danko

...and the sound ...in the image you can almost feel those units with that sound ...that throbbing ALCO.. chug.. chug.. chug.. chug......

Notable: after a disappointing experience with the GMD 1966-7 built SD-40's ( 5500-5564 some delivered in CPR grey maroon script) CP ordered ALCO designed MLW built (1968-1970 ): C-630M's 4500-4507 ( grey maroon); M-630's 4508-4512; 4550-4573. ( and also ordered the MLW M-636's in 1969) .... and the rest is well known history...
