Enemy Territory: A Dofasco locomotive in Stelco territory? Yes, it happened! After some kind of incident crushed the cab of 416, it was sent to nearby Railcare for work. After being lifted from Dofasco Bayfront (The last such move that I am aware of from here to date) the crew had to go into Stelco to lift a gaggle of loaded coil cars, light power. Leading the movement is Dofasco 416 well inside the Unionized Stelco facility. After lifting Stelco, the crew then ran light power into Railcare to deposit the locomotive :)

Caption: Enemy Territory: A Dofasco locomotive in Stelco territory? Yes, it happened! Known to be bitter rivals in the Steel Industry in Hamilton, probably unheard of to see a Stelco Locomotive in Dofasco or vice versa. After lifting Stelco, the crew then ran light power into Railcare to deposit the locomotive. A wise choice of moves that made this photograph possible.

  1. I like you posting spring/summertime shots in the middle of winter :)

  2. I need warmth.

  3. Whatever become of this unit? I did some research on it, and it turns out this was the yellow switcher from the GM Plant here in St Catharines. I was positive it was scrapped but recently learned that this was indeed that unit.

  4. 416 is still in service and toils at Dofasco daily. It was fixed up and returned.
