Oil fired or coal fired, what the heck. This is CN 6060 (oil) in all her glory doing a runby for the riders who purchased tickets for the "Yager Turn" sidetrip, as a bonus with the normal Toronto to Niagara Falls and back run. An exciting time to be out. One can just make out the Yager sign in the background as the train has roared over the big 'ditch' that carries rail under the Welland Canal.
Fun days, never to be forgotten. We should have kept this locomotive in Ontario for all the goodwill she would have done over the years....bugger the costs.

  1. I might be on this trip.

  2. Fine image of an iconic engine – should have been donated to Ontario, not Alberta – imagine the tourism possibilities with “the Spirit of Ontario “ !

  3. Politicians were just as “out of it” back then as they are now, John. If they do not see any money going into their pockets, then they just do not care. We were crazy to let this locomotive go.
The GO train this morning had hundreds, and I mean hundreds, of people on it down in Niagara Falls this morning. One could only imagine what it would be like with old CN 6060.!!!!!
