Basking in new paint, LDSX 7290 (nee Esso/CN 7290) waits to be picked up and sent to their next assignment. Wondering what it used to look like? Check This Jay Butler shot out.

  1. Built for CN in 1954 as 8555, then renumbered to 7920. Looking good for almost 70 years old.

  2. Do you know which operation this unit is going to work on?

  3. My old CTG’s show a number history of 8555, 7220, then 7920.

  4. Checked my work log books too, spent a lot of shifts at the end of the 70′s working with the 7220 here in Edmonton. The only major change (besides the new paint), it’s still going to work and I’m not. :-)

  5. It’s going to work in Niagara region.

  6. Great little engine for switching in the yard. A lot of the 7900′s worked in Oshawa Yard. The only downside was if you had one in your consist to lift or set out :-( They were restricted on the main line to 40mph

  7. Interesting headlight upgrade. I guess they wanted to keep the numberboards

  8. Trillium Railways MP15 340 is soon off lease.
This unit may be on its way to Welland, to replace it.

  9. Do you know the approximate date 340 comes off lease?

  10. Mid July I understand Matt !

  11. That makes sense. I was told it’s for the Welland Tube spur which 340 is currently operating.

Mike are there any dash 8′s located on the martech property still?

  12. The last time I was by, all CN scrappers were gone.
There was a CN GP9 and what looked like 2 ex IC SW14 switchers beside the shop area.
I think Trillium S13U # 108 will go to Welland Tube as the interchange unit

  13. That would be great! Lots of reasons to visit again!

  14. 108 will indeed be on Tubes duty per Dean’s recent shot of it heading to Southern Yard.

  15. Who moved to southern? Cn or cp?

  16. CN. The photo is on the front page

  17. Oh i see. I couldn’t see the trillium unit in the shot so thought nothing of it.
