It's not the Stairway to Heaven but it sure was an enjoyable climb every time I went up into the dome level of VIA 8515 Skyline on VIA #693. It's 05:38 and the train is 3 hours & 20 minutes (67 miles) south of Churchill, MB. There's no one else in the Skyline car but me and a VIA on-board attendant who was making a fresh carafe of coffee. A fresh cooked breakfast is still an hour and a half away. There's not much to look at outside as we rumble north, but it's amazing how interesting every mile of barren, tree pegged tundra and mirror like lakes can be from this elevated vantage point.

  1. Climbing the stairs to the dome should be on every railfans bucket list. We rode in the dome on the route of the Petit Train du Nord way back in 1975. It was a great experience.

  2. Paul, thank you for your beautiful sequence of images. I am now inspired more than ever to complete this Bucket List run. – Ken

  3. Thanks for the comments guys.
Ken, Glad you have enjoyed the photos from my Churchill trip.-Paul
