My Christmas present was two days late but I wasn't complaining. Five brand new SD40-2(W)s and one unidentified unit power CN #424 on a crystal clear winters day. I was able to get numbers of the first four: 5362, 5360, 5361, 5363.

  1. I still remember when these units were assigned to the ore train, and almost every afternoon while flying around north of Buttonville, I’d search them out on the Bala Sub. Bringing a camera seems like a great idea now, although there were a few student pilots I wouldn’t been too comfortable looking away to focus on the train. :)

  2. I just saw 5362 today on L509

  3. So purdy all shiny. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Super catch! Hard to imagine a time when those things were new!

Then again, I bet many are still wearing their original paint jobs…

  5. Thanks Cam.

  6. That’s friggin awesome.
