A little over two months prior to the first major VIA service cuts (15 November 1981), we see VIA's Super Continental changing crews and being serviced at Jasper, Alberta. At this time, it was common for a CN GP9 to be assigned as the third unit west of Winnipeg.

    Cabooses, water car, hook, 40′ box car, F9′s and a lantern on top of the tall switch. My kind of railroading.
