This image was taken with permission in early December of 1997 when CPR 2860, an H1e Class MLW 4-6-4 Royal Hudson built in 1940, was in for repairs at BC Rails North Vancouver shops. A great Canadian icon, with a larger than life presence in these confined and dimly lit quarters. She seemed to be sleeping but very much alive, and needless to say, I enjoyed every minute.

Purchased by the Province of British Columbia in 1973 to promote tourism, the 2860 is now on permanent loan to the Westcoast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish B.C.

GPS is approximate.
