A long way from the Burlington Northern.... Leased GATX GP40G 3080 and Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway (CBNS) C630M 2035 are viewed building their train for Goderich at Stratford yard on February 6, 1994. The winter of 1993-1994 was a brutal one for Goderich-Exeter Railway’s (GEXR) fleet of second-hand GP9’s and by early February, most were either out of service or severely ailing, which forced RailTex to lease power or transfer from their other operations.

  1. Cool. Had no idea this happened. GEXR has really seen it’s share of various power over the years.

  2. Thought this looked familiar. I shot this same unit with GEXR 177 under conditions a little bit worse,(RP #35359) and it was 10 days after this image!
It was a terrible year up that way.

  3. Thanks for the comments Kevin and Arnold. Yes it was a bad winter for GEXR that year.

That’s a neat shot 10 days later and they wyed the GATX unit too!
