Well! I just pulled up the main RP page and admired the lovely roster shot of a Conrail-patched ex-Reading GP35, sitting at Agincourt, posted by @sdfourty. After looking at the power it was bracketing, I realized I had a slide in my collection of the exact same consist, hauling TF-2 up the Hamilton mountain. The other shot is dated 2 December, and the date on the slide mount for this image is 10 December, so it would seem that this set of power was in the TH&B rotation for a few runs.Interesting, at least for the Big Blue fans: 2887 is sporting unusual-for-the-time white numberboards, while 3624 would run into the early 1980s in patched Reading colours, and would retire without ever getting a full repaint.Mr. Danko's shot is here: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=45318

  1. There were a lot of us out for this rare daylight run. (I was at Smithville) Wondering if this is an old Bill McArthur image, with his chicken scratch writing on the holder. :o )

  2. How I wish this shot was still doable. A good brush cutting would make it possible…

  3. Mr. Mooney: It would be great to find a way to ID the photographer. If only I could post a photo of the slide mount. I assume some sort of heads-up was sent over the grapevine – it would be very interesting to follow this train along the route in photographs. Do you happen to recall why it was so late?

  4. Jakob…..no, unfortunately I do not recall why it was as late as it was…..as in 10 hrs late. I only recall showing up at Bayview and the guys were talking about it; waiting for ti to be reported close and then we all scattered to our chosen locations……. I think it was around 1300 hrs at Smithville……….
